Flash Fiction #104 – A Girl Like Her

“Not interested,” Peg said, after Bruce asked her out.

Who did she think she was?

She was a four on a good day.

He was varsity everything!

A nine on a bad day!

A girl like her was lucky to be asked out by a guy like him!

He yelled all this while the high school cafeteria stared.

He wanted to shame her.

Instead he was the one turning bright red.

She didn’t blink as she let him finish.

“You done?” she asked.

Bruce nodded.

“Bruce, girls don’t need guys like you anymore.

Build a time machine or get with the times.”
