Gloria waited,
crammed in the tight cell.
Once in a blue moon,
Only You by the Platters would play.
Her cell would open,
she would escape through the maze;
its walls aglow with brilliant lights
that danced about
like the Aurora Borealis.
But even in the dark,
she could’ve found her way.
She’d run the maze countless times,
knew the dead-ends by heart.
It was that song
that brought her back
into Tom’s arms.
Once there,
she’d savor every remaining note with him.
When it ended,
back she’d go
to do it all again.
