“Do you have any regrets?”
Mrs. Merely coughed, looked up at all the pictures of her students taped to her walls and smiled.
“Not a single one.”
She never mentioned there was an astronaut on the wall. Or a bestselling author on the wall. Or a future president on the wall. Because to her, they all mattered.
To outsiders she was “just” an old, dying teacher. But to these students, she had been a supporter and nurturer of their dreams. And now Mrs. Merely knew it was time to go where dreams are made.
