Little Alma’s mother scolded her the day they moved into The Locus for “smiling at weirdos.” But to Alma, the tenants were just sad.
Once a hotel for old Hollywood, The Locus was now an apartment complex for the destitute. It was said the depressing building took their souls.
When her mother wasn’t looking, Alma went door to door, asking the tenants to describe their lost souls.
In glass jars, she’d return them.
Each thanked Alma tearfully for her glass jars; thanks to Alma they had their spirits again.
