Flash Fiction #159 – Close Call

Alien leaders at The Intergalactic Federation of Intelligent Life hissed and clicked and warbled and radiated amongst themselves, debating: Should humanity continue to live or be “dismissed”?

Usually voting was easy: creatures were a threat or not.

But with humans’, goodness and badness split them right down the middle—just like the alien votes.

It was the Kranlien leader who decided their fate: humanity would live to see tomorrow.

Meanwhile, on Earth, billions go about as if it’s another ordinary day.
