Flash Fiction #17 – Mrs. Pembleton Murders

Flash Fiction #17 – Mrs. Pembleton Murders

The problem

80-year-old Mrs. Pembleton, resolved,

started with her first murder

When she killed the mugger

who broke Mrs. White’s arm.

(He thought he was so clever

with the mask,

but she recognized the two tattoos

on her neighbor’s neck.)

No one suspected

the little old lady next door

for the grisly murder.

Now she can’t stop.

She’s killed what …

maybe ten?

The last one was the grocery attendant

who cheated Blind Al of his change.

Maybe she won’t kill this guy

for not giving up his seat to an old woman.

Maybe.
