Flash Fiction #221 – The Moment Before

Flash Fiction #221 – The Moment Before

The loud explosion isn’t thunder.

The cloudless sky showers not rain, but debris.

The singed polaroid flutters to the dirt.

As it hits the light, two tuxedoed men appear,

surrounded by smiling faces.

All who loved Adrian and Farid attended the wedding.

As the picture was taken, Adrian and Farid felt so lucky to be surrounded by friends brave enough to be there.

The bomb went off seconds after.

All that remains of the church is a burning hole in the ground.

Only the tattered picture remembers the moment before.
