Flash Fiction #223 – The Glitch

Ahab was sipping his coffee, grateful for his perfect life, when he peered up and saw it:

the blue sky flashed black before returning…

like a glitch.

He thought little of it until things began disappearing, a suit here, a tie there.

When the family dog disappeared, his wife and kids tried to convince him they never had one.

He panicked when he tried to leave for work and there was a wall of blackness all around.

Hologram shutting down, said a robotic voice.

The neighborhood,

his home,

his car,

then Ahab faded into black.
