Flash Fiction #239 – Violet and the Violinists

Spell-bound, Violet listened to the homeless-looking violinist with hearts tattooed on his fingers. He gave her a wink as her mother dragged her away.

“You think he’s good?” said her mom. “Wait until you hear Leonardo Gozando play.”

It wasn’t the same. Violet sat too far away from the music.

Gozando signed autographs after, and seeing hearts on his fingers, Violet ran past his fans.

“It’s you!” she said.

He put a finger to his mouth and gave her a wink. “Some people need to pay to hear the music.”
