Flash Fiction #35 – Admitted

Flash Fiction #35 – Admitted

They said I was wasted potential.

My parents.

My teachers.

The admissions counselors.

That college was out of reach for me.

They said it served me right:

for skipping school

to play with my computers…

wasting away my potential.

In our family everyone goes to Harvard,

but I was supposedly

not even getting into a community college.

I admitted myself into Harvard.

Computers were never a waste of time.

I’m a hacker.

Self-taught.

Today I make an 8-figure salary

working with the government.

What do you do?
