Flash Fiction #36 – The Gift of the Only Ones

The leafy plant waited in anticipation

to have its flower heads bloom.

It wanted to know what kind of flower

in the garden it would turn into.

Would it be a white rose,

a red tulip, a pink hyacinth,

or a purple crocus? All great choices!

When yellow petals bloomed,

it realized it was none of these flowers in the garden.

It decided it must be special since it was the only one.

When the time came,

the dandelion released its white seeds

to fly into the air. It wanted to give other gardens

the gift of the only ones.
