Flash Fiction #93 – A Long Way Down

CONTENT WARNING: Suicide

For some, life flashes before their eyes when they die.

Not for John.

No… he saw it all slowly.

From birth onward,

he experienced it all again with new clarity.

Life was a dance between pleasure and pain,

each moment, transitory.

He enjoyed every moment of it

until he got to the part where he stood

looking over the side of the 85-story high-rise.

“Don’t do it!”

John yelled as he fell.

He’d never be sure if that self listened,

because the next moment,

John’s body hit the pavement.
