Flash Fiction #233 – The Explanation

Vincent awoke, screaming. “Nancy! My leg is missing!”

Nancy pet his stump. “Don’t you remember? As a child it was mysteriously cut off.”

He awoke the next night also missing his left leg.

“Honey, they’ve both been missing since you were a child,” Nancy cooed.

Wheelchair-bound, he recorded himself sleeping.

Nothing out of the ordinary except that in the footage his left hand was never there.

He lost his right hand. His nose. His ears. His tongue.

Finally he awoke to blackness, where he remains to this day.
