Flash Fiction #255 – The Locked Room

The physical pain was one thing. But every moment the Crooked Man kept her in her cell, Marie found herself slipping.

He prodded and probed her and from spiritual gashes, her soul seeped into the foul smelling drainage ditch.

Marie created a mental room to save herself. She comforted herself knowing only she had the key.

Years went by, but she refused to open the door and jeopardize that girl.

Ten years later and she’s free.

But Marie left the key to her childhood in the basement of 303 Wesley Way.
