“A rock will turn our land to flames,” said Sky-Dancer Oota in trance. “Sail from Deadman’s Cliff to survive.”

Impossible, said all. Legend said Deadman’s Cliff was so steep you’d break your neck just from peering over. The tribe traveled north to a safer exit. All except Sky-Dancer Oota and Maco.

“See,” said old Oota with a smile.

Ancient steps grooved into the cliff escorted them down, where they discovered an ancient canoe, easy to mend.

Safe at sea, they prayed for their people as a great sky rock fell, engulfing the land of green in fiery flames.
