Flash Fiction #66 – The Premonitions

Flash Fiction #66 – The Premonitions

A premonition comes over me.

As I’m in line at the bus stop,

the world darkens

as though there are clouds in the cloudless sky.

“You okay?”

asks the nice old lady behind me.

I see our bus fall over a bridge; we’re screaming as we drown.

“I’m fine.”

I smile as our bus comes to a stop.

I always heed the premonitions.

Later, I check to verify.

Nothing ever happens as foretold.

Do I effect the timeline?

Or are my premonitions the imaginings of a writer?

The bus doors slide open.

I step inside.

Today I’ll find out.
