The dark waters were a cesspool of carnage. Small blobs were eaten by larger ones… on and on it went.
The littlest blob, hatched seconds prior, looked on in horror. Refusing to eat fellow beings, it instead survived off algae.
But as it grew, the limited algae wasn’t enough. Its promise to only eat one blob a day, turned to a promise of two or three, then five to eight… fifteen to twenty… eighty to one-hundred.
Now, the largest in the tank it devours all blobs it can without remorse. “I earned this,” it says between swallows.
