The running man peers back at the cave walls. The approaching shadows are nearing.
“Go away!” He screams.
He hears the click click of nearing footsteps.
With tattered map in hand, he swerves down the corridors. Almost there! He thinks. He stops suddenly.
Up ahead is a humanoid robot. Its face stretches into a cartoon smile.
The next morning, Alan’s robot owner hums as it grooms him. It feeds Alan his lavish meal.
“I love you,” it says, as it strokes Alan’s head.
Alan cries, a pampered house pet once again.
