“Help!” screamed the young mermaid as the ship neared.

The sailors grinned with rotting teeth: the beauty was ensnared in a discarded fish net…

and she was all alone.

They hoisted her up.

Her cries for mercy fell on deaf ears; they argued over who would have her first.

She quieted as their hands grabbed hold, her full lips curling into a smile.

“Help!” the sailors cried as the ship began to sink.

“Mercy!” they pleaded as the ravenous mermaids tore into them.

Their sinking remains found their place atop a seabed of bones.
