Flash Fiction #299 – The Planet, Blue and Green

Breathe in the clean air.

Admire the blue skies.

Plants, animals — diversity all around.

Our children laugh in green meadows.

No one goes hungry.

No one goes thirsty.

We die gracefully in our sleep.

You’d be forgiven for thinking Earth became a utopia. But live here long enough, you’ll witness the artificial flickering. The laughter always dies then.

For a moment, you see the barren terrain beyond the screen. Not a single animal call. Our ancient ancestors destroyed everything and left us in the dream of what could have been.
