Flash Fiction #86 – Ebb and Flow

Her eyes twinkled and sparkled like stars,

filled to the brim with love for him.

Her mouth was covered by blankets,

but he could tell from her eyes that she hid an ear-to-ear grin.

The sex had been all that he expected.

So where did his love go?

She propped herself up on her elbows

and the blanket slid off of her.

She was beautiful.

The moonlight from the window hit her just so

to give her an ethereal glow. 

“I love you,” she said. 

He did not reply.

His fingers grazed her skin,

hoping to find the love that disappeared.
