Flash Fiction #283 – Can’t Stop the Music

The current of women in gray veils trudges past Koren… spiritless.

“In my time, we danced.” Her mother had said before covering the cameras and playing an ancient song by a woman named Lady Gaga.

Her mother looked so free, dancing with her shoulders, arms, and legs exposed… like a man!

They silenced her mother forever.

But the song plays on; Koren slips off her veil, singing the ancient song she’s kept safe.

She dances to her end.

Her voice will never be heard again,

but the song can no longer be silenced.
